I’m formulating a list of days out near Hungerford to places which are currently closed but which I’d like to visit once lockdown is eased. Normally I yearn for adventure, but my list is mainly focused on revisiting old favourites. Perhaps we’ve had enough surprises for one year?

Things to do in Fowey, Cornwall
The harbour town of Fowey is about an hour’s drive west of Plymouth and is easily accessible from the A30. Once there you’re in a maze of small streets set around a natural harbour with views across the Fowey River to the village of Polruan. It’s still a working port, exporting China Clay from the deep water harbour.

A Day at Dyrham Park
Dyrham Park is an ancient deer park with a grand 17th-century house at its heart. It’s possible to spend your whole visit outdoors (as we did) but the house looks very appealing to visit, and they provide children’s trails and quizzes.
